FAQs
How much is a flight and how can I pay?
All flights are $250 per person CASH price and $260 per person CREDIT CARD* price. From age 6 to 106, every spot in the basket is the same price.
A debit/credit card is required to make your reservation, however, we do not charge your card until after the flight, so if you would like to pay cash, you may do so at your pre-flight check-in. We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express. NO CHECKS, PLEASE. If you are paying via credit card, please bring the card along with you to the flight. We will run your card there and have you sign. The card you use for online booking is strictly used for reservation purposes and is not charged unless you choose to cancel or not show up for your flight.
*All card transactions will incur a 4% processing fee, cash payments are waived the 4% fee.
What are the physical requirements for flying in the balloon?
Due to insurance and safety regulations, we are unable to fly anyone pregnant or may be pregnant, and anyone under the age of six.
While there are no age maximums, physical limitations may apply. There are no seats in the basket. Passengers MUST be able to stand for the entire flight (about an hour) unassisted and must also be able to hold themselves in the basket when landing. Upon landing, you may be coming to a stop from 10 mph; the equivalent impact of jumping off of your kitchen table. Depending on our landing location, you may also be required to walk up to 1/2 mile on uneven ground. This is not a typical scenario, but it has happened before.
We always recommend checking with your doctor before booking your flight if you are concerned with physical limitations.
What is the cancellation policy?
Because we turn people away based on reservations, we do not have a cancellation period. What does that mean? It means, if the balloon ride company (Galena On The Fly) cancels because of weather, there is no charge to you, and we will make every effort to reschedule your flight. However, if you cancel, for whatever reason, you will be charged the full amount.
Please remember that all balloon flights are entirely weather-dependent. If your flight is canceled, understand that it is for your SAFETY. Just because it's a beautiful day for a picnic or other outdoor activities, does not mean it is a favorable day for flying in a hot air balloon. Believe us when we say, no one wants to fly more than we do, but safety is our number one concern.
If the winds are forecasted to be above 10mph, or if there is any chance of thunderstorms or rain showers within a hundred miles, you will not be flying.
All flights and cancellations are completely at your pilot's discretion and will not be questioned. Galena On The Fly will do everything possible to reschedule your flight for the next available flight time. Because your card is not charged until AFTER the flight, no refund is necessary for a flight canceled due to weather.
How long is the flight?
Flight time varies upon location, wind speed, and direction. However, we do aim for forty-five minutes to one hour.
How should I dress for the flight?
Please dress for an outdoor adventure. If you dress to the ground climate, you should be comfortable in the air as well! Wear comfortable, loose-fitting, and layered clothing, as the temperature will fluctuate between the launch and landing. Comfortable closed-toed flat shoes are a must, and we do not recommend dresses, sandals, and high heels.
